By the way, how'd you get the resize handle in the bottom-right corner of the windows? I looked through all of QtCurve's options and couldn't find a setting for that. - Nov 19 2013

Kwin Effects by ivancukic 3 comments
1) Is it possible to add any configuration? It'd be nice to be able to set the duration of the effect (and even nicer if we could change the effect from a zoom to a simple crossfade or slide perhaps).
2) When switching activities, the wallpaper of the newly selected activity is briefly visible as the windows on that activity zoom in. That's fine, and I'm guessing it's the desired effect so as to serve as a quick reminder of which activity you're on, but it's not always consistent. A lot of times, the wallpaper of the activity I'm switching from will be shown instead. Is there any way to fix this?
Aside from those minor issues, this is pretty much perfect. Thanks, and keep it up! - Sep 04 2013

I installed Kup from the Ubuntu 12.10 package, and was initially having some problems. Whenever I tried to manually invoke a back-up, Kup would complain about the destination. It turns out the actual cause was bup wasn't installed. So just FYI, you might want to 1) have Kup offer to install bup if it's not found (similar to how K3B offers to install extra codecs), 2) add bup as a dependency to the Ubuntu package.
Thanks for all your hard work on this project. - Feb 20 2013

Also, I'm still experiencing the bug that another user reported some time back: This widget is showing empty application categories in the menu. I've opened kmenuedit to confirm that the categories are in fact empty; they actually do contain some sub-categories (which are also empty), but no actual applications. I guess I could just delete those categories in kmenuedit, but this means that if I were to install an application in the future that belongs to one of these categories, it would end up in the "Lost & Found" category instead of where it's supposed to go. I took a screenshot to show that this only occurs with AppMenu-QML: http://i.imgur.com/8Bml6A7.png. - Feb 05 2013

My only real complaint is how much space it takes up - 778 megabytes! o_O Given most of the KDE icon themes I've used (which were reasonably complete) took up no more than ~50-100MB, this is quite a drawback. I had a look in some of the directories, and from what I could tell, you're not using symlinks for identical icons at all. Given how many duplicates there are, doing so should significantly cut down on the space. For example, acroread.png, adobe-reader.png, AdobeReader.png, AdobeReader8.png, AdobeReader9.png, and AdobeReader10.png all use the exact same icon. Instead of making them 6 individual files, you could just have acroread.png, then make the others symlinks to that file (ln -s ./acroread.png adobe-reader.png; ln -s ./acroread.png AdobeReader.png; etc.); doing this would free up a lot of room since only the original file actually uses any disk space.
Lastly, extra kudos for releasing this under the GPL. There are a few tweaks that I'd like to make, but was unable to locate the sources. Could you point me to where I'd find them? Thanks!
(A note about the provided .deb file: I'm assuming it's because it's so big and contains such a huge number of files, but trying to open it with Kubuntu's .deb installer [qapt-deb-installer] brought my entire system to a screeching halt. You should probably advise users to install it via "sudo dpkg -i Potenza.deb" on the command line instead.) - Dec 05 2012
