Sorry for not explaining, vitormbgoncalves, but that Launchpad icon only works for launching applications in Gnome; for KDE you can use this Layout: https://www.pling.com/p/1399346/ - Jan 25 2021

Hello, qrly.

Well, I have done a fresh install of Manjaro and other distros and I have done more tests, it seems that the new update of the Latte Dock breaks the Layout, so you were right and something was wrong to give you that result when you tested the Layout ; But do not worry, I am working on an update of the Layout to solve the problems, I appreciate that you have reported the errors so that I can solve them; Unfortunately I have been involved in a project that does not leave me much time to make revisions more often, but I am already working on the update to solve the errors and that everything works fine again.

Again, thanks for reporting the bugs and for the vote, wait for the update. };-] - Jan 25 2021

Hello, qrly.

Well, you must have done something wrong, friend, because I do a lot of tests on different distros with KDE before uploading the Layout and everything works very well. Another thing, you say that it does not work for you but do not specify what errors you are having when using the Layout, I would appreciate if you could give me more information about the problems you have had to review and solve those problems, in any way, I can tell you that I have tried the current version and I have installed everything in the correct way and nothing has failed me, everything is working well in the Layout, remember to read the instructions well, install all the necessary widgets so that everything works well.

Again, I would appreciate more information, specific information about the errors you have had to be able to fix them so that no one else experiences errors. - Jan 23 2021

Sorry for the delay in replying, friend, unfortunately I am very busy with some projects that are a priority at the moment and I cannot answer as quickly as I would like.
Well, to add your applications to the Dock use "Kruner", you look for the application and drag and drop the icon in the Dock, you can also launch the application and when the icon appears in the Dock you right click on the icon and then pin to the Dock, in this way you can add the applications to the Dock.
But if what you want is to add Widgets, follow the instructions in the Psyphidotos message, that's the way to add the Widgets.
Thanks for your vote, friend, greetings. - Jan 23 2021

Hello, @kajus15, Sorry for replying so late, friend, but I haven't had much time to reply quickly.
Well, you see, this layout is intended to be used in KDE, to install it in Ubuntu with Gnome, you have to install too many dependencies of the KDE desktop, you must almost completely install the KDE desktop, and it is not recommended because it could cause your desktop Gnome breaks, so if you want to try it you can use one of the Ubuntu flavors with the KDE desktop, such as: Kubuntu or KDE Neon, so you avoid installing thousands of dependencies that can break your desktop.

Thanks for your vote and it's great that you like it };-] - Dec 31 2020

Big Sur Menu for Gnome Desktop

Gnome Extensions by fkorpsvart 15 comments

Very good, @commodoreameris, I have also done that a while ago, but the underlying problem remains the same, the global menu does not work with Gnome applications, that is, in Gnome it is no longer possible to use a global menu due to its new structure Then, in order to see the global menu in all the applications, it is necessary to install applications that do not belong to Gnome, for example, in your capture you use the XFCE terminal, and it is necessary to install applications external to Gnome, and you fill in the application system to see that the global menu works, which is not good for the system, since you are installing dependencies from other desktop environments, then there are performance problems and there is a chaos of new configurations.

Personally, I no longer try to have a global menu in Gnome and I try to use it with its default configuration, that is, I only make the necessary changes, since Gnome developers do not think about implementing the global menu again, so I give up xD better I stop trying to find a global menu for Gnome and I look for other better alternatives, like KDE or XFCE itself. - Dec 06 2020

Sure, but the problem, at least from my point of view, is that it is more prone to crashes, of course Latte Dock runs perfectly in many DEs, but this gives problems when trying to use the widgets in other environments than KDE, problems of dependencies since when installing widgets you need many KDE dependencies and, as I see it, it is not so advisable to combine desktops, when installing all these dependencies it is practically to install the KDE desktop and why install a large part of the KDE desktop in Ubuntu Gnome if is Kubuntu and KDE Neon ready?
Personally, I prefer to keep my system clean by installing only what belongs to the DE to avoid performance problems

Another problem that I see when doing that is that the vast majority are new Linux users and for them it is a bit difficult and they probably don't have a super machine in which to install a second DE, as I repeat, in my little experience, it is better to have a clean system and use only what belongs to the desktop, Latte is more used in KDE, most widgets are designed for KDE, and installing a large part of KDE on Gnome I find it inefficient. - Dec 06 2020

When installing Latte Dock in Ubuntu, you can only use the Dock, you cannot use the Layout because the Layout needs all the widgets that belong to the KDE desktop and these widgets do not run on the Gnome desktop, only in KDE - Dec 06 2020

Sorry for the delay in responding and thanks for the report, @techno.

Well, regarding what you mention, I have been doing the tests and rebuilding the layout and there is nothing wrong with the Panon Widget, maybe you have forgotten to install the dependencies that the widget needs. In the KDE Store, in the Widget description, the widget creator says which dependencies are needed for Panon to work perfectly, I have installed everything necessary and everything has worked perfectly, I have done tests on Arch Linux, Manjaro, KDE Neon, Kubuntu and POP_OS KDE version and everything works fine; remember that you should always update all widgets and their dependencies.

And it is not necessary to resort to TimeShift, all you need is, when you are in the login screen, press "CTRL + ALT + F1", this leads you to obtain a shell, you log in and then navigate through the directories to the path: "~ / .config / latte /", then you delete the cyberpunk Layout and reboot the system with "sudo reboot" and that's it, you don't need to use TimeShift to go back to a recovery point and lose the changes you made after the recovery point with TimeShift, after deleting the Layout you can log in again and Latte, not finding the Layout of the configuration, shows the Layout by default.

Either way, the Layout is up to date and tested on various distros and works very well, thank you for your comment };-] - Dec 06 2020

Greetings, @nullpointer00.

In fact there are distributions with official Flatpak repository, for example: Pop_OS !, the distro that I currently use, apart from its PPAs as official repositories, has Flatpak as secondary official repository, in the store, when the ".deb" package is missing, you can install the Flatpak package, which is why I have noticed that in Flatpak packages there are not many icons found in the "Suru ++" icon package, but I will try to fix the problem as soon as possible ;-] - Oct 23 2020

@nullpointer00 Yes, I suppose there are a lot of icons missing, this package is based on "Suru ++" and apparently has not been updated for a while, in fact I noticed that with some applications that I use daily and had no icon, especially in packages "Snap" and "Flatpak" so I've been doing some research and will try to fix the issue soon as I need to learn how to make these icons as similar as possible.
