Plasma Themes by ireko 27 comments

This is one of my favorite themes. I think it's pretty much perfect except for some minor polishing. One issue I have experienced with it is that there is not logout menu that appears when I try to logout of KDE. I'm not sure if that's because of an issue with your theme or because of a packaging issue with my version of KDE. - Jun 09 2008

I think this is a great plasmoid. Thanks so much!! :-)

I would very much like to contribute to the pool of plasmoid widgets available. Can you point me to any of the documentation that you've found for the plasma API? I can't seem to find anything online that seems stable

Thanks again!! - May 11 2008

Ahhh... that's what I figured. In my Google searching for variable brush stroke size, I saw a forum where people were talking about that being implemented in Photoshop and not in The Gimp. Hey don't worry about using The Gimp. Photoshop seems to be working for you. :-) Thanks for the feedback. - Jan 13 2008

You wallpaper looks amazing!! I have a question though. In the wallpaper that I created for Kubuntu that emulates your's, I had a pretty good idea of how to emulate what you did except for that curvy line that you have. I'm not sure if you know what I'm talking about. It's a line that runs through the logo and starts off very small and gets gradually bigger and tapers off at the end. I looked all throughout the Gimp and looked through the web for tutorials to do something like that and I couldn't find anything. Would you mind sharing how you did it? Thanks so much!! - Jan 13 2008

Blank Beat

Cursors by jmariani 3 comments

I can't find anywhere on the wincustomize site where they mention anything about licensing. In that case, I would assume that the author holds all rights to the artwork. And if the author holds all rights to the artwork then you would have to resolve any licensing issues with them. This means that it's probably not OK to post them here without the authors express permission. You would also have to discuss what license to release the work under with the author. - Jan 12 2008

I've noticed that you've been posting a lot of other people's work from the wincustomize site on here. Please keep in mind that if you don't specifically ask and obtain the permission of the author, you can't slap the GPL license on it. - Jan 11 2008

Karamba & Superkaramba by linuxbob 61 comments

This is a great widget. Thanks so much!! I did have one minor issue with it. The path to my clock images contains spaces so inkscape would bomb out when converting the svg file to the appropriate png file size. I just wrapped svgpath and pngpath in the inkspace commandline calls with quotes and that did the trick. I'm not sure if anyone else is having that problem. I think the files I changed were buildImages.py and Style.py.

Thanks again for a great theme!! - Jan 05 2008

Big titlebar

Beryl/Emerald Themes by dosse 4 comments

I don't understand the usability to this modification. I understand really small titlebars that sacrifice ease of minimizing, closing, etc in order to gain more screen space. I understand the "medium", for lack of a better word, size titlebars that sacrifice a little screen space to make it easier to minimize, close, etc. Your design doesn't seem to have a benefit. It's just a large titlebar that obscures more of the screen than it needs to and doesn't do much else. Maybe I'm missing the point, but I just don't see the benefit to having such a large titlebar. - Oct 23 2007

You're off to a good start. One bug I noticed is that it's looking for YOUR home directory when you click the home icon. It should be looking for ~ so it's more general. I like it though. Keep up the good work!! :-) - Sep 09 2007

Kopete Shiny Emoticons

Emoticons by rowancompsciguy 4 comments

I'm afraid I don't quite understand your comment. I have no issues with Kopete, however it does not meet my needs so I use Pidgin. I have posted this theme to both KDE-Look (because a lot of people, myself included, use Pidgin with KDE even though it's a GTK application) and GNOME-Look because parties from both camps use Pidgin.

I'm somewhat perplexed by the lack of any meaningful comments and this work's pitiful rating. I would hope that someone could shed some light on the subject without giving me a GTK vs QT/KDE vs GNOME reason. I can't make my stuff better if I don't know what's wrong with it. - Aug 22 2007

Yes, you are correct. You want to replace the original intro.bmp file with the new one(s) that I made. For me (I'm using Fedora Core 6) the file is located in /usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/ but I believe it is different for other distros. I'm not sure why your intro.bmp would be the wrong file. I would change the name of the original file and insert the new to experiment. I hope it works out for you!! :-) - May 20 2007

Icon Sub-Sets by rowancompsciguy 4 comments

I agree it would be nice to package them in a set. I don't really have enough icons to do that right now and I don't know if I ever will. I appreciate your vote of confidence though :-). Perhaps someday I'll have enough to create a theme, but in the meantime I think I may just release them piecemeal.

One question I have is if I were to release a theme, say with the icons I currently have, what happens to icons that I don't have icons for? Are they supplemented with some other package or is better for me to start with someone else's completed package and replace their icons with mine as I create them? I've never actually tried it before. Any suggestions would be appreciated!! - May 05 2007

I don't understand why people vote things down and don't leave any comments explaining why. This and a lot of your other 3D works look amazing and yet have low ratings. It's easy to just click the "bad" button and be on your way, but the artist and community benefit nothing from you doing this. I feel like if you're not going to bother to leave constructive criticism then don't bother voting. You get a good from me. :-) - May 05 2007

The material you have used is copyrighted. Please read the following... http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ1.html#wci

I don't personally feel that your work is "bad" per se, but good or bad you have violated copyright and posting such works is bad for you, KDE and the open source community in general.

You are correct that there are other works posted on this site that violate copyright but that does not make it OK for you to do it also.

Stop taking this so personally. If you want to use these copyrighted derivative works for your own personal use, that's your business. But please do not post it here. Do not make the rest of us suffer for your blatant disregard for copyright law. - May 04 2007

OK, those are some good ideas for additional folders. So far I've been stuffing the folders with things and I think that looks good, but it may be confusing further down the road. The stuff inside the folders might now be as easily visible so I'm toying with the idea of putting some of the "contents" on the outside of the folders. What do you think? - May 03 2007
