Unfortunately, for SuSE 10.2 there is not up-to-date pybluez. I think, you compiled from the enclosed src.rpm. You may try to compile from the src.rpm of SuSE 10.3.

The following error is a bug on SuSE:
"TypeError: 'dictproxy' object does not support item assignment"
Item assignment is a basic feature of python dictionaries. SuSE may use tuple, but it is a bug. The __dict__ is a dictionary not a tuple.
I try to find out another solution. The problem is only the translation stuff...

The search function shows hangups without displaying anything and crashes (kicker disappears) if too many menu items are present. I think, you should find a solution before the first rather unstable kde 4 appears. It will take a year to be able to use the first stable kde 4 version, and most of the users will not upgrade...
Kde 4 will support also qt3.

I only know this application:

"Bluelock is a small bash-scipt. Bluelock is written to check if a bluetooth device of you is available, if it's not it will lock your computer. So the idea is that if you walk away from your computer and you forget often to lock it, this script will do. But on the other hand if you stay near your computer, it won't lock, because you are close to him :)

To start it, you need to run the command:

It cannot be configured at all.

1. The GTK frontend cannot be integrated into KDE. The systemtray policy is different.
2. The KScreenSaver works completely differently then the gnome-screensaver.
3. The GTK version is compatible only with unstable GTK versions. It does not work on debian ETCH.
4. The documentation with the instructions will be different. How can you use a gnome systemtray applet on KDE to setup your devices?
5. I am not an expert in GTK programming, but I understand KDE. I think, Lars Friedrichs is not an expert in QT/KDE programming, but he is an expert in Gnome
6. The fromtend is only a small part of the application. The API is the same for the two versions.

I was talking about libpam-encfs. It uses the KDE login password.
I studied the kwalletmanager on two systems. It works on neither of them. On SuSE 10.2, it does not accept the correct password.
On debian ETCH, I cannot access any folder. Panes are missing...
I cannot apply such a buggy application.

EncFS cannot restore anything concerning a KDE session. There are not any feature to do this.

We need an application with the ability of delaying the system tray activation untill you enter your password.
I think, it could not be a KDE application, because it relies on KDE. A KDE application cannot work before KDE starts.
Patching kdm could be a good solution. (Please send the KDE team a feature request!)

I cannot understand your problem with the directories. EncFS uses two directories. One for the encrypted data. You need not acces it directly. The other is a virtual folder, it must be empty before mounting the fs. You cannot pass any data directly into this folder. It is a file system, not separate resistant encrypted files. If you do not like the name of the folder, you can edit the file /media/hdc2/usr/local/lib/kencfs2/kencfs.py.
Change the value of the variables self.user_dot_encrypted and self.user_encrypted! Then, edit the start script /usr/bin/kencfs2!

You are about to decrease the safety of your protected data. There are options to do this, but it is not included K-EncFS.
EncFS can use your login password for KDE to mount the encrypted file system, but in this case your data is protected by the same way as your computer generally.
Boot from a live CD, change the file /etc/... (stores your password hash), and your encrypted file system is... does not really protect your data.

There is not any other way to restore your kate sessions automatically.

The question: safety or confort?

My main problem is the missing real "infrastructure" for this Debian style solution. KDE has a GUI integrated in the KDE Control Center.
Debian has not GUI, only a poor documentation. KDE is a Graphical environment...

There are several problems with the Debian policy concerning KDE.
For example, the wireless connections module is freezing because KDE expect other behavior. If Debian replace anythink, it must be replaced to an existing think. At least, the module has to be removed from the KDE Control Center. My first Debian installation (Etch, "stable") suffered from data lost, because I tried to use this module...

KDE has a working KDM manager. Why Debian replace it to a solution not so sophisticated?

You have to install the python-qwt4 library.
If it is installed, please open a terminal and type:

python /usr/share/PyWireless/monitorWindow.py + the name of your active interface as an argument (ra0, ath0, wlan0...)

What about the essential packages missing from the release 10.2 such as the qwt library? They were present in the 9.x.
The SuSE distribution is continuously shrinking. Without these libraries, I cannot develop applications for this distribution.

Your application absolutely is not ready to compile.
There are references to non existing moc files, missing headers (ui files not converted) . I fixed these problems, but I cannot compile.

I see another problem.
Your distributions is completely different than the others. I have to make another package, but you should test it. What package of K-Enzip is istalled on your system now: Deb, rpm or tgz version?

I will modify the code in a few days.

I think, fuse will be a base service of the kernel, so will not be compiled as a module. Now, it is a kernel module on most of the distribution. So, I have to make an additional package. Is your distro rpm based?

You can use untill I upload the new version in this way:
Drag the K-EncFS from the K-menu and choose "copy"! Edit the command field, alter it from kencfs to:
python /usr/local/lib/kencfs/kencfs.py
Although, you cannot use the "Start" with KDE" function.
NOTE: first time, after installation K-Encfs must be started from the K-menu to do the basic tasks for every user!
Then, do the modifications above!

Please, spread it around to all your friends after you tested it (e.g. the python library is broken for suse) and I upload the new version!

You need not to compile it. It is an architecture independent python qt3/KDE application. The "source" is in the /usr/local/lib/kencfs directory and it "compiles" by the runtime of pyQt/KDE. Please, see the dependences before installing it! If the pyQt/KDE library is not broken for your distro, it will work also on 64! - Mar 10 2007

It works without any crash on Debian now.
Some not too important problems:

Right clicking on the left column, and not choosing the appearing item and left click -> it will open.

The preferences
'Show tree expanders' and 'Always collapsed categories' are not independent of each other. Please disable the item not available. (An enable/disable connection needs.)

If the script wine.sh is in the directory

/opt/crossover/bin/

This commad must work:
/opt/crossover/bin/wine.sh “C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7zFM.exe”

(The 7zip window appears, but it can not be used!)

Does this command work on your computer?
Where is the script wine.sh ?
(You must test it, I have not Crossower on my system.)

2. The name of the binary application launches windows apps. I suppose, it is not named as "wine".

It was a known bug of python-qt3. It has been fixed, but the buggy version was included in your distro.

You can delete line 31 in the file "/usr/lib/kenzip/help.py".

Unfortunately linux can not generate windows binary, like the backend p7zip for linux.

Windows binary with GUI feature can be generated only on windows. Without GUI feature maybe with freedos or with dos emulator for linux. In this case you can try to use the dos binaries of 7z for windows.

Qt4 supports windows, so I recommend you the python qt4 based K7Z for this task (I think, it is not easy to install all the dependencies for windows.) or 7z for windows to obtain GUI feature.

By the way, I tested the sfx function on linux systems. Not all of the p7zip versions support it.

Hidden password letters: in the final 1.0 version.

Self extracting archives for linux p7zip has limited value. You have to extract it in command line, or with the same frontend like KenZip. The archive file size for a 30k file is about 500k.
Has any value of the compression or the self extract feature?

This application is a python-qt3 based frontend. You need the following package:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/edgy/python/python-qt3

How could you install the package without the dependency? Did you used the force option for dependency? If you did not used this option, check the presence of the package python-qt3_3.16-1.2ubuntu1_i386.deb! If it is present, the package is broken. Maybe the postinstall script fails...

This application is based on python-qt3.
The source is the python-qt3 source.
If you have py-qt3, you need not the source. Install your distro's package. This is the runtime for the application, like in the case of Java.

My application is a multiplatform script. You can not compile it to binary, but python will it automatically convert it to bytecode format. You need not anything to do.
