For pessimistic personalities Just copy the gimp-splash.png to the folder where your current gimp splash is Mine (I use Debian) is /usr/share/gimp/2.0/images. You may want to backup your existing splash screen.

Didn't like the crappy flower shot for the splash. I think this one made with one of my photos suits it much better. just overwrite the image in /usr/share/apps/digikam/
