1. yeah, the '*' character is used as a wildcard in the bash, i'll have a look at that.

2. maybe i'll make it this way in the future. but the current way is more reliable. the replay gain backend takes all files from an album and writes the tags itself. this wouldn't be possible at the moment because of a bug in taglib. i posted a patch to fix that bug so it might be possible in the future.
so currently all files need to be of the same format and same sampling rate. - Jan 02 2011

Thank you for your feedback.
I'll keep this in mind. The problem is that there are a lot of things that can go wrong and my time is very limited. So I won't be able to handle everything.
But it seems that the log viewer dialog should really be redesigned. - Dec 23 2010

Thank you for your report, you have a very valid point. Unfortunately it would not be a small bug fix but rather a redesign of the way settings are saved.
So I'll have to delay that for the next version.
Until then, you can save your settings as a custom profile, this should be restored correctly. - Dec 05 2010

lame was called with a wrong parameter.
i have committed a fix to the git repo.

to avoid this problem, don't use "user defined options" -> "bitrate mode" at the moment. either use "preset" -> "specify bitrate" (will be abr) or "user defined options" -> "quality mode".

another problem will remain, soundkonverter will re-rip tracks if there was en error while encoding, i'll have a look at that, too. - Nov 21 2010

normally soundkonverter should only rip one track per device. could you please try to rip some tracks again and send me the log files of lets say two tracks (see below).
also, which version of soundkonverter are you using and how many files are being ripped simultaneously?

creating log files:
1. Try to convert the file.
2. Then open the "Log Viewer" by clicking on "Conversion" in the menu bar and selecting "View logs...".
... The Log Viewer will now open in a new window.
3. By default the Log Viewer will show the log of the soundKonverter application, sending me this log won't hurt.
4. But the more important log is the log for the file you just tried to convert in step 1. To see that log, click on the combo box (drop down box) at the top of the Log Viewer window and select the file.
5. To save a log to a file, click on the "Save to file..." button on the bottom of the Log Viewer.

unfortunately it doesn't work for me.
i'm using the current git version of amarok and the cover dosen't get copied.

i added a debug output in 'function copycover()':

Amarok.debug("from: "+Amarok.Engine.currentTrack().imageUrl.replace('file://',''));

and the result is:

the font size in the combobutton is 3 points bigger then the "normal" font.
on your system the width of the combobox's popup is the same as the combobox while on my system the popup is wider.
but i don't know why. could you post your qt and kde versions. there seems to be some inconsistency. - Jun 04 2010

this widget at the bottom left of the main window - "the combobutton" - consists of a combobox and a push button that is drawn over the combobox. it's important to know which of these widgets is too small. the button or the list that pops up when you click on the arrow? (or booth?)
usually the whole widget should resize itself after changing the action.
also you could send me a screenshot to hessijames gmail com maybe you have some exotic style options. - Jun 04 2010
Moodbar Generator [DEPRECATED]

Amarok 2.x Scripts by devenv 20 comments

what do you mean by greedy?
your regex reads like you want to also catch files without extensions, but that would be ^(.*)\/(.*)(\.(.*))?$
i might be wrong, but i think that *? is simply invalid and that newer qt versions can handle this error while older versions can't.
an alert in moodbar generator is unnecessary, i catched all parameters by a wrapper script to moodbar, this is how i figured out, that the regex replace failed.
it works fine with the regex, i wrote in the last post. and if you can explain what you wanted to do with the ? we should be able to add this, too. - May 27 2010

Audio Extractors/Converters by HessiJames 609 comments

that's more difficult and i don't know if that is really necessary, if your file aren't tagged properly, it might be better to just use the input file name as output file name and then format the file names with a real tagging program like easytag.
but what i can do is eg. use the input filename if there are not tags at all. - May 27 2010

it happens to pretty every file, but here are two examples:
/home/daniel/Musik/Sammlung/Trance/Verschiedene Interpreten/Bravo Hits Zima 2007/1 - 07 - Starting Rock - Don't Go.mp3
/home/daniel/Musik/Neu/Amy MacDonald - This Is The Life/09 A Wish for Something More.mp3

i had a closer look at the regex and the use of a * followed by a ? doesn't make sense to me, i tested the regex with kwrite (if it also couldn't handle it) and here the replace buttons are grayed out as long as *? is in the search field.
^(.*)\/(.*)\.(.*)$
does the job.

i'm using a git snapshot of amarok and when this script is enabled, the currently playing song gets deleted.
since the script is really short, i guess the bug lies within amarok, but you should be careful as long as this bug exists.

thank you for your message.

i'm aware that finding taglib and cdparanoia should be automated, but i coundn't figure out how to do that. maybe i'm just blind but i find it hard to find a good kde4/cmake reference.

soundkonverter cannot find the plugins, because i forgot to add an install statement for the servicetypes to the cmakelists file.
i think it would be something like:
install(FILES soundkonverter_codecplugin.desktop DESTINATION ${SERVICETYPES_INSTALL_DIR})
install(FILES soundkonverter_replaygainplugin.desktop DESTINATION ${SERVICETYPES_INSTALL_DIR})
install(FILES soundkonverter_ripperplugin.desktop DESTINATION ${SERVICETYPES_INSTALL_DIR})

so those files would go to /usr/share/kde4/servicetypes/

another thing i noticed is that the libs in /usr/lib64/kde4/ start with a "lib" but they shouldn't. unfortunately i left a "WITH_PREFIX" in the kde4_add_plugin statement in all the plugin's cmakelists files. if you remove them, it should work.

sorry, but i'm not that into cmake yet. :( - Dec 12 2009

this behaviour is perfectly normal. taglib can't read tags from flv files. you may prefer selecting "%f" instead of "%d - %n - %a - %t" or whatever at the output location. "%f" will be replaced by the input file name.
