IMHO most of your icons look great, and I use them. However, I want to throw in my 2 cents if the KDE team seriously considers moving to your icon set.
First of all, some of the icons are too similar and may confuse new users. e.g. konsole - control panel - desktop, find - icon size, ... On the other hand, they help to give KDE a more consistent look. The latter is a compliment, and something worth pusuing. If this is your aim, I would seriously consider redesigning some icons like kmail, which need a label to be clear and meaningful.
Just a thought:
What about splitting up your icons into categories at design time (internet / look and feel / folders / docs / utilities / ...) and use a common starting point for all icons in that category; e.g. a globe for all internet-related apps.
Not meant as a rant, I admire your work. - Dec 08 2001

They style looks cool, but can we change the color scheme? Is it pixmapped based, or do you use a rendering engine that goes with the color scheme (like Mosfet)? - Dec 08 2001

Hi
Is it intentional the way the buttons borders look? I feel like some pixels more in the right up corner and the left down corner of the buttons wouldn't hurt.

Anyway keep on the good job. - Dec 08 2001
hi
1) very nice
2) thank you for letting us enjoy these icons.

humm ehh well may we see another screenshot ? Maybe it's the folder background type that make them look a little aliased?
Anyway, if you don't feel it, forget it.

Have a nice day. - Dec 08 2001

Hi there, is there a way of saying a qt-app like Opera that it should use the KDE-Style as much as possible?

This "here GTK, there Motif and - Oh!: here comes Xlib together with QT" is *really* annoying me.

Themes only affect the window decoration, icons, sounds, and wallpaper. For it to affect the appearance of widgets, you'd need a KDE style. (Note: there is a difference between pure Qt apps and KDE apps: pure Qt apps, like Opera, won't follow the specified KDE style, even if they are dynamically linked to qt). - Dec 07 2001

Noatun Skins by Frank 8 comments

you have to put them into

$HOME/.kde/share/apps/noatun/kjskins

In there the skin needs to be in its own directory.
Then one can choose the skin from the list of skins.
KDE3 will have a skin-installer for kjofol-skins working for (almost) every zip'ed-skin I know of. - Dec 07 2001

Great style, thanks a lot. Now if only it would follow system colors. Generally colors are pretty cool, but I find it hard to distinguish between inactive and active windows from the color of the title bar (especially on LCD screens). The difference between the two types should be more obvious IMO.

Still, thanks a lot for the great work.

KDE 3.x Splash Screens by niedral 17 comments

First off...I really like this splash screen. I use Mandrake 8.1 and during the splasah screen the background is red, which realy looks bad. Can someone tell me how to change the color of the background?

Thanks - Dec 07 2001
well I've talked to Tomasz already about this and he didn't want his icons to be published yet.. he said, he'd like to work on this before publishing them widly.. (what just happens)

so I just want to say Tomasz I don't have anything to do with this act of violence from amstrong.. I don't even knoooow him.. :>

but that's good.. as I said: people like it ...

And I say this again. somebody call KDE now, to get TOMASZ working for them ASAP, because as T. said he's gonna work on some gnome icons now (buuu!)

/me hates gnome

If there were 32x32 version of these....ooohhhh, sweetness. I've used 48x48 icons for a while, but I find it gives the unwanted illusion of making my desktop look smaller. Way smaller. But I like lots and lots of desktop space, and 32x32 icons are about perfect. Sure, you don't have all the detail, but a well desinged icon conveys meaning at every size. And these 'uns here are well desinged. Just gotta shrink 'em. - Dec 06 2001
