QGRUBEditor

System Tools (NOT OS or ROMS) by artemisfowl2007 52 comments

Dude, you honestly rock!

Though I don't do as much... forgot the most important thing:

Please add Copyright (!!) and License (!!) notes to every source file (as stated in the COPYING file, line 282 sqq.)

And writing about the COPYING file. The version you're shipping is out of date. The FSF isn't located in
59 Temple Place, Suite 330
anymore, see http://www.fsf.org/about/contact.html
You might consider updating the address :)

I gotta wait for your changes, before I upload a new revision for ubuntu reviewing. Btw, instead of putting the deb on sf.net you might consider just linking to http://packages.kubuntu-de.org/en/ which is where I will store my backport anyway. - Jul 17 2007
QGRUBEditor

System Tools (NOT OS or ROMS) by artemisfowl2007 52 comments

Ahoy!
I'm working on a Kubuntu package of qgrubeditor and want to report some issues.

* GenericName in the desktop file should actually be a generic one, e.g. System Utility
* The desktop file is missing the Categories tag, e.g. Categories=Qt;System;

for both see http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/desktop-entry-spec-1.0.html

* I'd suggest to place the application related data in /usr/share/apps/qgrubeditor instead of /usr/share directly, this keeps the structure clear

* /usr/share/applnk/System/ is not a proper installation path for the desktop file

desktop.path = /usr/share/applications/

....if you want to only show it in KDE use the OnlyShowIn=KDE tag. If so, you might want considering to provide a 2nd desktop file including NotShowIn=KDE using Exec=gksu qgrubeditor instead of X-KDE-SubstituteUID

Hope that was not too confusing ^_^ really good application - Jul 17 2007
KDelayStart

Utilities by DanaKil 6 comments

I'm currently creating a Kubuntu package. Unfortunately there are some issues with the 0.1 tarball.

* never, _never_ create the makefiles with unsermake (i.e.
* you didn't run make distclean before making the tarball, so it's actually somewhat compiled
* you should replace your admin directory with the latest version from KDE SVN
* the source directry should be named kdelaystart-VERSION instead of just kdelaystart

I'd really appreciate if you fixed these issues as soon as possible - Jun 25 2007

Graphic Apps by kusi 28 comments

Ahoy! :D
I'm just started work on a kubuntu package. As usual, when I do packaging, I got some feedback:

* source folder version shouldn't be x_y_z but instead x-y-z, though that's really a minor issue
* before you create the tarball, ensure that you removed all .svn directories
* actually the current release doesn't ship a configure file, so I'm not packaging any further, since I hope that you're going to fix that ASAP :)

Greetings from today's lan party (yeah I'm a really freaked out nerd ;-) - Jun 23 2007
Kirocker Music Display

Audio Apps by Sebien 324 comments

I'm working on the Kubuntu package of Kirocker. Now there is one really serious problem (I already mailed twice about some others, though they partly got fixed in 3.2 anyway).

Anyway... the Kicker Right Translucent Background.png _has to be_ moved into the kirocker-x.y directory, else I can't do proper packaging.

PLEASE RELEASE A FIXED VERSION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE :-(

Another minor thing, since I can patch it:
the libraries should be stored in KDE's lib path in my opinion
http://aplg.kollide.net/kubuntu/tmp/kubuntu_kde_ltlibraries.patch

uhm... that should be fixed in 1.0.1?!

Well, letz track it down:
* are you using 1.0.1?
* how did you set the proxy?
* does the proxy require authentification?
* does it work with other lyrics scripts? - if yes, which - Jun 12 2007

Good to here ... it's getting even faster in 1.0.1, found some stuff where it's possible to save "some" time ;-)

To be honest: I just located 2 bugs, which is why 1.0.1 will come tomorrow. Something to look forward I guess. :D - Jun 11 2007

Amarok 1.x Scripts by apachelogger 11 comments

well, we did quite some testing yesterday... and I can say it's probably not the script's fault as we checked almost every combination of accents, umlauts, spaces etc.... problem is that currently most artists didn't put their lyrics online (probably because they are too lazy, but I hope this is going to change soon ;-) - Jun 11 2007

Sorry, you should have read the guide lines first, the submitted artwork is already voted about. In other words, submissions aren't included into voting for Amarok Live 1.4 anymore.

However you can of course keep it here for 2.0 or a maintenance update for 1.4 (considering we don't change logo or something) - gotta take a note in this case. - Sep 13 2006

the build files (makefile.am, configure etc.) have been made by unsermake - which shouldn't be done (actually quite much authors forget to deactivate the unsermake export)

just run:
make -f admin/Makefile.common
in the source directory, this will regenerate the build files (please uninstall unsermake first, else you'll have the same problem ;-)

I'll mail the author - Apr 02 2006

then kill your kicker (pkill kicker) and start it again (kicker)

well, as the output says, you're missing journal.h ;-)

now it would be helpfull if I'd know what distro you are using, since this is probably in quite different packages on different distributions

on debian and kubuntu the page is called libkcal2-dev for example

I think google might know how the file is called (and if you use a common rpm distro you can use http://rpm.pbone.net to search the file) - Mar 27 2006

yup, you're missing something :-P

from the description:
"This package provides new search engines for
Konqueror. Some are designed to replace their ori-
ginal versions, and some are totally new."

>Why not just change the keywords for the existing searches, or add new ones there?

KISE - Konqueror Intuitive Search Ext.

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by apachelogger 9 comments

Well, the whole system would need some changes, if it shell also be ultra usable (which is the aim for KDE 4 I think). Just changing/add those shortcuts isn't a solution I'd like to see in konqui.
So I'll work out a concept and then submit a wish.

And thanks for the compliments :-) - Jan 07 2006

I don't see a reason why a "normal" user would need it.

but well, you can release it yourself:
* grab the script at http://dev.bit-freaks.net/apachelogger/playground/kise-script.tar.gz
* copy the desktop file into the searchproviders folder
* edit the README
* release it - Jan 07 2006
