You know I been messing around with the ubuntu looks engine for the past 3 hours.
Unless I am mistaken it isnt changable.
I have been experimenting and the only way I think it can be changed is to use the pixmap engine just for the notebook and tab area. Not sure thats the best of idea tho. - Apr 26 2006

I think the theme looks great. I only have one suggestion. The note book areas inside the frame should be a lighter or darker color. This will give them some definition from the rest of the background. Other then that I think its perfect. - Apr 26 2006

Looks liek you put some hard work into the metacity theme. Its very elaborate and looks very neat. I hate to see it get such a low score, but most the people on this site like low contrast themes with no color that would make a normal person commit suicide..

You can create the folder.
In you home dir just run this command:
mkdir .fonts
the "." means its hidden. ON ubuntu you should have the folder my default.
You can find it in the terminal my using "ls -a" it will list all files/folders even the hidden ones. - Apr 20 2006

I did think of a White or light greay when I was developing the graphics for these theme but decided not to go with it due to it would be harder to read the buttons on prelight & active even when I did change the prelight & active colors. I am not like many "theme artist" here. If it isnt easy to read and the theme isnt crisp and clear I will not publish it.
I am still evaulating a GOLD scheme for these themes. But before I will release it I still have to release the complimentery XMMS and GKrellM skins that are still in developement. - Apr 20 2006

The issue is not the theme at all. The issue is you may have users sending you email were the email has a specifies background, but a unspecified font color.
I send my self a email and everythign is fine. But I do know what your talking about as I have freinds and family who send the fancy background for there email but never take the time to specify a black , blue or red font..
This is a enherent problem when it comes to using dark themes.
I would recomend if you have anyone that sends you email, to ask them to send plain text. HTML email is overated anyway. - Apr 18 2006

O BTW.. I have tried a few themes out for firefox that correct this. But then they dont match the system theme.
After I have got these themes finalized I do want to try my mand at theme building for firefox. I am sure its not that hard.

This is actualy a bug in firefox. I have submited a bug report to them. Fx 1.0.7 and below did not have this issue. You will notice the icons are aboce the highlight and the text is below. They both should be above. I will continue to complain to the Fx devs until this is resolved. It only appears on the pixmap engine. The other egines like Industrial and Clearlooks dont have this issue.
I will admit, it bothers me too. If I can find a workaround I will submite a new theme asap. - Apr 13 2006

I took your advice on the colors looking dirty. I tried viewing the screen shots from work on some older monitors and well.. Ehh.. So I fixed it. :) At least I hope I did. Please take another look at them and let me know how they look now. I also added a graphic for the menu bar. - Apr 12 2006

Many themes out there are not crisp, clear and consistant also they are hard on my eyes.

Hmm. Very interesting. I use Evolution as well and everything is always very crisp and clear. If you can email me a screenshot I would love to take a look and see if its something I am able to fix on my end. Also sometimes the program needs to be restarted for new font colors to take effect.

Actualy I adjusted the boarder sizes. The default was slightly bigger, only a few pixles mind you but I am very tickey. Plus its a added conveince. Most users seem to like it over the older metacity theme. - Mar 13 2006
