I really like the new menubar. Now I think the theme just needs a better scrollbar, something that resembles the buttons. It would be such a great and complete theme. - Jul 02 2008

I really like the look of this, but one thing seems out of place to me. Why not make the scrollbars more visible? I would have trouble being productive when not being able to use them properly. - Jun 27 2008

This is the absolutely best emerald theme put out in ages. Would you be able to make it in different colours, and perhaps with other images than the star? I would really like to use this on my desktop. - Jun 24 2008

The closest thing to being a really, really nice metallic theme. There is just one thing that bugs me, which is the File/Edit/Etc-menubar color. It just doesn't fit well with the rest. Perhaps make it more like the rest of the theme, or create a pixmap-image and put there instead? Also, the dark text seems a bit too dark there. A bit more consistent would be great.

For the rest of the theme, it has gorgeous graphics - I just wish the menu looked better. - Jun 22 2008

It's a really, really nice theme. I especially like the titlebar - very calm and quiet and stylish. The buttons however.. not too much of my liking. I'd like it even more if the buttons fit the theme better. - Jun 13 2008

I really enjoy your work. I wish though, that perhaps after this one, you could make something more streamlined - with the same amount of originality you put into every theme of yours, for more of a general purpose than this machiney-ish look. This is more of a niche-thing (which I'm still going to use though. :P) - May 10 2008

Best Nodoka-theme yet, imo. I wonder though, how do I change the text colour of items in the gnome-panel? I really want to use a background with it, but the black text ruins it a bit. - May 09 2008

It might be a bit much designing just for me, heh.. I have a thing for not sticking with every theme element for very long at a time - I do adore this certain panel, though - and if I had my way, everything was designed around it. :P

I do find the fruit-icon strange though.. Why create an entirely original theme and then put something like that in it? Perhaps some arctic bird-icon would fit in better. :)

Oh, and perhaps make the icons in different colour schemes? I'd totally dig a woody-brown-maybe-slightly-grained-theme for sure. - May 03 2008

Excelsior (Engine)

GTK2 Themes by Chrispy 85 comments

This isn't hard to compile, really.

download the file, extract it into some directory - I have a dir specially created for compiling source code. cd to the dir, and do as follows:

./configure --prefix=/usr
<wait>
make
<wait>
sudo make install
<wait>

Then copy the Theme folder into your .themes-dir in your home - and that should be it. :)

Good luck! - Apr 19 2008

I really do see potential in this. The scrollbars right now are just not up to the rest of the theme, standard-wise.

If I was to design this, I'd drop the white outline, make the bars just a tidbit wider, and use different arrows. Perhaps bevel-arrows or such, not in any box.

I'd really like to try and use this - right now the scrollbars just ick me.

Best wishes. - Apr 12 2008

Wonderful wallpaper. Lovely colors, and a lizard that doesn't scare the bejebus out of me.

Always nice to see some original thoughts executed nicely. Since you have a thing for oddballs, perhaps you could make some.. wooden window frames? I have been looking for something like that for ages - something along the line of the handcrafted from..-themes.

I have to admit that I like the official coming artwork better. I don't see very well, and this is just too dark for regular use and work for my liking. As Ubuntu strives to be a universal distribution, I believe the default interface should be kept like that as well. As universal as possible. - Jan 22 2008

My "puny little country" does it pretty well, in fact. Here we have little censoring, meaning that we can choose to see what we want, and what we do not want. If someone doesn't want to see a pair of naked breasts on television, they have the free choice to switch to another channel.

We have a better culture regarding the human body, and that is merely a fact. Pornography isn't a taboo here, and blessed be many for that - that means that we can better handle the subject in public - school, as well as in politics.

America truly has all the greatest things in the world - the greatest fundamentalists, the greatest censorship, the greatest display of malpractitioned democracy in the modern world, and pretty much the greatest fear of the human body as well. - Jan 18 2008
