I had a look at kover's cddb implementation a while ago. At least the way of network access is not optimal (for example kover needs to have the proxy configured).

But I will put it on my TODO list, and as there is not too much to do for KoverArtist it will be done quite soon.... as soon as I find out how to handle cddb requests properly. - Apr 23 2006

I can print into a specific area on a paper. Can you select CD/DVD printing in Linux with your printer?

You could, for example, try if you can print a simple "Hello World" text with any KDE application on a disc. If that works I will have no problems. - Apr 22 2006

I can only feed the printer with data.

And I can preset some settings that the KDE/QT printer object allows. Like page size, color mode, paper source (tray), resolution, and some more. Basically the standard stuff that one sees in the printing dialog.

Anything beyond that would be hard to do and is probably something that should be solved in the printing layer before applications can support it. - Apr 22 2006

Where would one select that labels shall be printed? Probably global in the settings, and then per project, or per disc?

Hmm... maybe extra "Print Label" and "Print all Labels" menu entries would be suffient, as one needs special paper for that anyways.

Try "hash -r" in the shell, that reloads the shell's path cache.

If that does not work, and you did not "configure --prefix=/your/kde/dir" then the program is installed in /usr/local/bin (that is the default for configure). Maybe that directory is not in your $PATH ? - Apr 21 2006

You need to install Kde applications to use them properly (su - make install).

If you cannot start it from the shell after installing: hash -r

You can get this (nearly) with konsole also. Disable window decoration for the konsole window and set it to be on back always (done in the windowmanager settings).

Then in the konsole settings set background theme to transparent, disable scrollbars, and disable the border (the later is done in the konsole settings, first tab page). Voila. - Jan 12 2006

(add an apps directory below each icon resolution and have the icons in there).

The othes said it, the car is cool, the grill is fine, but the tux is not at a good place.

It took me a while and xmag to see that it is not the driver, but a logo on the side...

Maybe you could try and put a tux on the engine compartment cover, this will probably look better. Or on the side doors, but this will look not that good, as the side is quite dark.

The challenging thing is that it should look like a real sticker, so you will have to play with the light reflections on it. - Jan 20 2005
