UNR compatibility now? You are my new hero! ;) Now we just need a GDM theme and we're all set. BTW, someone may have already asked, but what icon theme are you using in the screenshots?

I was pressing my limited art skills trying to get a metacity together for this theme and you threw a drowning man a rope just in the nick of time. Beautiful!

Next project for me is to see if I can size this down and "widgetize" it to be tter fit UNR. - Jul 02 2009

BTW, since there is not yet a metacity theme for this GTK yet, I'm using it with the New Wave metacity and it looks pretty good. - Jun 30 2009

Awesome, awesome wallpaper. I've also made a GDM using it as a background (for my own personal use, not going to be uploading it anywhere - don't worry).

I guess a good example of one of the turn offs for me is in the screenshot with the calculator. There you have the contrast of the "Murrine-ish" (for lack of a better term) buttons with the soft orange shade against the muted, flat tones and themes that are reminiscent of Dust. I'm not quite sure where the compromise is here. If you move toward brighter shades of orange, we're back to square one with the whole Human thing. But then again, if you move towards darker earth tones you might as well be using Dust. There has to be a middle ground here somewhere where some of the jewel-like widgets (i.e. calculator buttons) are not so pronounced while at the same time not completely reverting to the whole Clearlooks type thing. Not sure all of this makes sense, but my best advice is to just keep working in the same color palette range to see what works to your eye and keep up the excellent job of allowing public visibility for feedback on developments. I'm far from a UI guru, but think I'll give the theme files a look tonight and fire up Agave and see what kind of combos I can come up with. Can't really install it as I'm stuck with a netbook with UNR on it as my only machine right now while I'm on the road, and obviously have all the fancy effects disabled on this woefully underpowered machine so I can't really install and use with the Emerald theme at the moment.

Sorry for the long post, and thanks again for your responsiveness. :) - Jun 14 2009

Not sure what to think about this theme. I'm a huge fan of Dust and and also find Glow mildly attractive, but together I'm not so sure it works very well. The color scheme is indeed very easy on the eyes but the combination of the two just kind of leaves me cold. Not to say that it doesn't have potential, it could be a great theme with a few tweaks, so please keep working on it. I'm just on the fence about it right now, but perhaps it will grow on me it I use it for a while. - Jun 12 2009

Figured out the problem myself. Had to add the following line in the style "panel" section of the panel.rc file:

fg[ACTIVE] = "#E6E6E6"

Worked like a charm. Hopefully this will help someone else using this theme. - Jun 11 2009

Forgot to add that these are nearly perfect except that when the windows are maximized by Maximus the text on the panel is black and very hard to read. Not sure what to do to fix this and I can live with it, but if there were anything I could change about these themes that would be it. - Jun 11 2009

Really enjoy these themes and thanks a million for altering them for us UNR users. You should really talk to perfectska04 about adding these to the GNOME-colors PPA along with the regular Shiki themes so us Netbook Remix users can install these from Synaptic and keep them up to date. Just a thought. - Jun 11 2009
Breathe Icon Theme

With a little polish and upon completion of the entire set I believe this should definitely replace the tired Human icon set as the default in Karmic. I've been following the progress of this set since it was called "Air" on the Karmic incoming artwork page and really like what I see. Disregard the naysayers and keep at it. Great work so far! - Jun 10 2009

Very much like the DarkRoom theme and have wanted to use it with UNR on my netbook. Thnaks for answering my prayer!

I've noticed one small glitch though, and that is that a partial white border appears around the navigation box in Firefox when using this theme. I can certainly live with it, but do you have any idea what could be causing it? Thanks! - Jun 06 2009

BimetallicoUNR

GTK2 Themes by Argirox 3 comments

It's one of my favorite icon themes and this was the perfect place to use it! I also tweaked the width of the scrollbars down a few pixels to further maximize my screen real estate. More compact and still looks very good. All in all this is the perfect UNR theme for those who dislike the default UNR brown, and I'm looking at making a few more minor changes as well if you'd like to see them.

Thanks again! - May 30 2009

Thank you for this theme! You don't see a whole lot of themes designed for UNR and I really appreciate this as it gives it a bit more of a professional look. Works very well with the Meliae-Dust icon theme and looks even better when you set a dark grey wallpaper as a background. - May 28 2009

OK. They looked kind of like Crystal except for the stock icons in Nautilus (which are kind of cool by the way) which was what made me ask. Checked out the Krystaline set over at KDE Look. I very much like the crystallized Bluecurve look of them. Wouldn't mind seeing those ported to GNOME (if someone hasn't done it already). - Sep 30 2005

They are desktop wallpapers for Fedora Core Testing, Fedora Core 2, Fedora Core 3, and Fedora Core 4. Different numbers for different versions. Go easy. If this is the same guy I think it is, he's been a Fluxbox themer for a long time who's trying to make the switch to GNOME. They have a habit of packaging Fluxbox styles as .fluxbox, which is the directory for fluxbox themes. Probably an old habit. - Aug 04 2005
