Another vote to keep the house icon. :)

The only really good home icon I've seen that isn't a house is everaldo's igloo with the penguin, but, of course, it's still technically a house ;) - Apr 04 2003

File Manager + DE Usability

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by WinterWolf 35 comments

I'm sorry, but if you dislike KDE, etc so much why the heck are you here, and especially bothering to post? Nonetheless, you should be sure you're using the latest versions of KDE/Gnome because neither of them are nearly as bad as you so inaccurately described, and Explorer tends to be much worse. Consider yourself lucky in the Windows usage department. - Mar 13 2003

I hate to reply to a political comment on this site as I really don't think that's what it's for, but UN and NATO would not be here were it not for the US. The League of Nations was a failure because of the lack of US support and the UN and NATO are becoming failures. The purpose for which they were created is no longer valid and they're searching for new identites - and failing miserably. The UN is letting itself be walked all over and setting an example to countries like North Korea that it CAN be walked over. - Feb 27 2003

I like this idea a lot! I'll certainly be using this. Even though I know when to and not to use root, I like to make root look significantly different than any other user - and this is just one more excellent thing to use. Wonderful idea! There should be more of these. - Feb 15 2003

Aside for that, I agree this is not the place for political activism.

And the "wallpaper" functions better as a poster than a wallpaper. It's too busy (mostly the words) to be used as a wallpaper. - Feb 12 2003
Gentoo Simple Wallpaper

Wallpaper Other by unixboard 5 comments

discostu is right. I think this wallpaper looks really nice - but I'd prefer a version without the "Gentoo" text on it. It just doesn't make sense with it. Gentoo and lizards have nothing to do with each other.

Like I said though, I do like the look of the wallpaper - I just don't think the text fits. - Feb 09 2003

1) 77% is a GOOD rating! That means more people rate it good than bad! Plus, look at how many other nice things are rated 77%!

2) Don't worry about ratings. There are people here who for some reason like to rate things bad, and on top of it, if you like what you're doing then that's all that matters!

3) You're doing great work! Some people will like it, some won't - that's life. Just keep at it for the ones that do :) - Nov 19 2002

These ARE really nice icons. Not my type, but they are very nice. Keep up the good work. What's with all icons these days being "shiny" though? I *love* Crystal, etc, don't get me wrong, but I wish more people would make flat icons too - like Gnome's. But, beggers can't be choosers, and since I don't have the skills to make them myself, I will gladly take whatever comes my way :) - Nov 10 2002

I get annoyed just as much as the next guy by MS. But we don't need anymore anti-MS wallpapers. All that breeds is hate and it's childish - sort of like a bully, "I can't beat you so I'll mock you." Thanks for the effort, but how about a pro-Linux wallpaper instead? - Nov 02 2002
Marble/Crystal-like Add-on

I like the Galeon one a lot. The others not so much though. Not because they're bad, because they're not. (I would recommend making the light on the Phoenix one a little darker though) The reason I don't like the other three is just a matter of your title - they'd fit a marble icon theme much better than Crystal. Otherwise, great work! :) - Oct 22 2002

KMenu

Various Stuff by yf12s 31 comments

Of all tghe "innovative" K-Menus I've seen here - this is the only one I would probably use. The so called innovative ones here are often big and clunky. Plus they look a lot like the WinXP Start menu...and I *hate* the WinXP Start menu. The second screenshot of this menu is probably, IMHO, the closest combination of "innovation" and usability. You're right, we DON'T need hughe shutdown/logoff buttons. We also DON'T need a huge menu with only a few giant options. A new e-mail button is very nice, so is user info and the date, and a scedule, but why do we need to have giant icons with this making a huge XP-like menu??? Maybe ad it as an option, but I prefer to stick to the basics. In fact, I use K-Menu so little it never even occurred to me that it needed fixing. - Oct 20 2002

putting the dots ON the corners of the dialog box? Seperate pieces don't make for a good icon I don't think, and it would look much more smooth if it was just one piece with the dots over the corners of the dialog box. - Sep 26 2002
My Kopete

Icon Sub-Sets by caldroun 19 comments

that such a great icon is hampered by the fact that when you mix 4 totally unrelated colors together, you get a "Windows look." I really think that these icons are great, and, ignoring the inevitable fact that they make me think of Windows, the puzzle icon is absolutely amazing - converying exactly what kopete is. BUT, unfortunately, it makes me, and I think most everyone else, think of Windows to see this :( Curse M$ for being a plague on our world. I can't express to you how much I *want* to love these icons, but it's just difficult when they remind me of Windows so much :'-( - Sep 26 2002

You don't have to be rude about it. I run 1600x1200 on a 19" CRT and it's not that I can't see smaller icons, but the larger (64x64/72x72) icons look better. I'm sure a large amount of people agree considering if you look at the icons here on KDE-look.org many come with sizes up to 128x128 now. Besides, it was just a suggestion - it's not like I was demanding he do it or anything. - Sep 05 2002

I REALLY love your icons. I wonder, could you make them in higher resolutions though (including the old folders - I prefer those)? It seems as though 48x48 is just too small these days with most people using 1280x1024 as a resolution or even 1600x1200. That's why I use 72x72, but I'd love to use your icons. Just a thought/suggestion. AWESOME work! - Sep 04 2002
