iKons 0.6 for KDE2/3

I am also interested in an answer to your question.
I'd like to have shadowed icons in my toolbars. When i saw this screenshot i tried to change settings directly in ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals (i changed the lines "AlphaBlending=false" for "AlphaBlending=true", for each "[MainToolbarIcons]", "[SmallIcons]", "[ToolbarIcons]"...) without any result !

How to do to implement alpha blending in toolbars of kde 2.2.1 ? - Jan 23 2002

The window frame just kills the finished look of themes like this. Native KDE styles/themes need to be written for a more realistic imitation. - Jan 23 2002

Could we have something original..not just some XP rip off. If I wanted XP I would install the no registration required corp. copy I have sitting at work. I don't...and I don't see why so many talented people want to make KDE look like it. I just don't get it. - Jan 23 2002

... put my own case. I need to travel often, show what we do... on Linux! I'm not gonna put my little rocket on screen since it doesn't show a corporate image, especially on a projector, that little rocket becomes 20cm! (:P)
Nowadays the image of a company is everything. What do you think M$ does otherwise to sell such crappy things?
Anyway, I don't mind having a rocket as default, as far as I have the chance to change it myself. - Jan 22 2002

hey.
your icones are _really_ nice, the most of them anyway. But I don't like the arrows (forward, backward etc in konqueror). I think you should try arrows something more like the Ikons icon set arrows... they would fit much better to the rest of your lovely icons - Jan 22 2002

From looking around here I dont think (I may be wrong, but how often is that?) that the purpose of this website isnt to provide backgrounds for 2 year olds!

But looking through my IRC logs I once again realize that the majority of people are utter morons, maybe thats why we have the influx of Windows-XP and TELETUBBIES on a linux theming website.

so ? anyone tell me howto theme LINUX ? maybe we add some 'XP' sourceheaders to each file of the code. but every moron will understand its not XP. but i know that you wanted to say '..the secrret that this is KDE' and not linux. i see many people doing this and it ends in a big misunderstanding. a lot of people misunderstands what linux is in reality.. like all these people that come into an irc channel and ask for 'linux 7.3' and we always shouder and wonder if we missed some version numbers and finger @kernel.org. this misunderstanding of things and facts is totally wrong. e.g. another firend of mine calls me up told me that he installed some stuff onto his machine and wonder why he isn't seeing linux. i then told him that what he see's on the prompt when he boots up the machine actually is linux. the problem is you guys give other people the wrong information about what linux really is. its the fucking kernel noting else. if you want to fool them by showing them an XP'ed theme of KDE then say KDE. - Jan 22 2002

Nice icon theme, but may I suggest that you make the navigation icons, etc, a bit drabbier? Giving them a bright color like that can be distracting. Perhaps a grayish-tan would be better? - Jan 22 2002

KDE users have to admit at some point that Windows, as well as other commercial OSs out there, has some good points before we can finally say that our system is superior. KDE has a solid core that is only getting better, but we need more artwork and freedom of expression to make KDE as useable as possible for the widest range of users possible. People care that there system is comfortable, and if one wants their system to look like Windows, BeOS, OS X, or whatever else you can think of let them make the choice, and if they want an alternative, they can just look at all the other quality items here and decide for themselves. - Jan 21 2002

From what I can tell, the creator had a very good point. We need to show Windoze users that Linux can be just the same, AND that it can be different. In order for people to feel more comfortable with the transition from something they've been used to, they need familiarity, NOT TOTAL DIFFERENCE. Once they get used to the idea, then they will move on to bigger and better things. But until then, the only way to snag most of them is to show them familiarity. You flamers need to grow up and look at the big picture. - Jan 21 2002

I followed the installation instructions correctly for Mandrake. The installation went fine, however I don't know how to access any of the Teax stuff?

I went to Configuration>KDE>LookNFeel, and there was nothing with the name Teax. So, I browsed around and went into 'Style' and found a Teax option there. I applied it, but the result wasn't very pretty (gray boxes all over the place), so I'm sure thats not how I'm supposed to activate it.

I'm using Mandrake 8.1 & KDE 2.2... - Jan 21 2002
