Smooth Tasks

Plasma 4 Extensions by panzi 842 comments

For the record (writing from Win7 before I reboot back to Kubuntu) the light effect in Win7 does NOT follow vertically and always seems to center on the cursor at the bottom of the button.

I wouldn't mind having the light follow the cursor perpendicular (vertical when horizontal or horizontal when vertical) to the taskbar but would prefer it be an option. - Oct 13 2009
Smooth Tasks

Plasma 4 Extensions by panzi 842 comments

Currently if a new task appears or disappears, Smooth Tasks "blinks" to the new state. On a soon-to-be-released competing operating system it is an animated change. You would see the current tasks slide over and a new one zoom into the empty place, or you would see an exiting task fade into nothing and the others slide over to take its place.

Can Smooth Tasks animate changes in a similar way?

(I know, I know... even more like Win7.) - Oct 12 2009

In Docky for Gnome-Do, as well as the Windows 7 taskbar, the color of the glow is some sort of average to get the dominant color of the icon. Can the glow in Smooth Tasks be given a similar option? - Oct 07 2009

One option that would be nice (especially if embedded in a taskbar) would be if it normally displayed as a thumbnail, then expanded when clicked. A console 'gadget' for Win7 behaves this way, and it would be a nice option for this.

Anyone disagree? - Sep 23 2009

I think this has potential, but it could benefit from some further changes.

By main gripe is that I can't alter the colors, which is an issue because I'd like to see how it looks with a more aqua-ish blue.

I'll be watching this one to see how it comes along. - Aug 17 2009

I certainly didn't mean to imply you were copying. The new version has the issue with overwriting glassified resolved. Great Job!

One more bug: The "System Monitor - CPU" plasmoid appears to show its data in black. Since the background with BlackGlass is also black for that Plasmoid, the data doesn't show up.

Again, the theme is otherwise excellent. - Aug 12 2009

Could I request the icon for Eclipse be changed to something a little more like the stock icon. (I think earlier versions of Simple had a black rendition of the normal Eclipse icon which I liked better.) The current icon doesn't show an eclipse, but shows two particles colliding.

Just a feature request. - Jul 23 2009

Can anyone recommend an up-to-date PPA for 64-bit Jaunty?

Alternately, would CraigD be able to post a screen shot of 0.66.1 showing some of the newer features (such as the "Agua" gradient)? - Jul 20 2009
I've had this happen too on the version of QTCurve in Jaunty. I get the impression it might be more a feature than a bug. Anything that can be done on this CraigD? - Jul 20 2009

This definitely has potential. Especially for some of the "cartton" style icon sets, such as Gartoon, Buuf, or garGANTuan. It kind-of reminds me of the old "Comix" style for KDE3 (which sadly doesn't appear to have survived the transition to KDE4).

Pretty much the same issue as grassmonk. I don't suppose any Kubuntu developers are reading and would have the good sense to make QtCurve the default theme for KDE4, KDE3, and GTK before the Jaunty release candidate freeze? (Nahhh... --that would just make too much sense.) - Apr 09 2009

What plasma theme are you using in the screenshots? - Apr 09 2009
Anyone know of a .deb package of the latest QtCurve for QT3 that works on Jaunty (in my case 64-bit)? It seems that Canonical no longer packages the QT3 version which forces OpenOffice, K3B, and other apps to use another theme. I can install from source if I have to, but I greatly prefer to use a .deb package because 1) Installing anything from source may require libraries I'd otherwise have no need for; 2) a .deb package can be uninstalled and updated more cleanly and; 3) Non-engineers and newbies usually can't consider installing from source an option and would probably appreciate a .deb package as well.

Thanks in advance. - Apr 09 2009
