Try to select a hidden directory (not one a level above) in the collection editor. You'll see, there is no possibility to do this.

It is possible, to scan hidden directories, as long as they are inside a normal one, but it is not possible so select themselves.

It's not about having hidden directories in my playlist... I can do this by drag and drop too...
I want to have hidden directories in my collection. Why not doing it like the KDE directory dialog?? Right click --> Show hidden files/directories and voilà, all you need is there... Users who don't need this feature won't see this feature, because it's only explicit enabled by a right click.

Why isn't it possible, to add hidden directories to the collection, without editing the amarokrc file?? Is there a reason for not using the KDE directory chooser dialog? It's a still missing feature. I'll file a feature request this evening at bugs.kde.org.

I think there is a lot of work to do at the menus, especially the K-Menu.
When I set up desktop pcs for friends and family, I always got it managed to reduce the menu entries in the hierarchy top to 4-5 points.
e.g.

System
--- Settings
--- Administration
--- etc.

Office
--- Management
------ Addressbook
------ Databases
------ etc.
--- Office-Suites
------ KOffice
------ OpenOffice.org

Entertainment
--- Multimedia
--- Games
--- etc.

Internet
--- WWW
--- etc.

Maybe you could do something there. Otherwise: Good Job!!

But, why not asking Sebastian Trueg, the developer of K3B to support this?
Maybe it would possible to do this all by using kparts (if K3B supports this) or at least other parts of K3B, so you had a consistent usage and won't have to rewrite all this code from scratch.

Have you read this on the skippy homepage?:
Skippy-XD is a version of Skippy that uses the new XDamage, XComposite and XFixes extensions (found in FreeDesktop.org's Xserver project) to provide you with 'live' versions of the windows. Exciting, isn't it?

Why not using the same method to get live-windows. I think most users will switch anyway due the next months to a new xserver, so you could include this abilities optionally.

...there are still some points I have to criticize:

1.) When using the "parabolic" mode, the bar pop ups instantly when entering it ... it should raise up smoothly, not so fast and flickering.

2.) The configure-dialog windows aren't really well designed. I can resize them without any limits.

3.) Would it be possible to use SVG icons when available instead of the PNGs, because they don't scale very well ?

Maybe other programs like evolution, sylpheed-claws etc. are able to do it in the same way, so you could read out the settings, which program is set by the user in ~/.kde/share/config/emaildefaults (EmailClient=evolution).

Just add the src_unpack section to the ebuild beforce
src_compile()
including the following content:
src_unpack() {
cd ${S}/kwin
epatch ${FILESDIR}/${PN}.kwin-kwin_shadow-3.2.patch
cd ${S} && aclocal
}

Copy the patch-file to the files dir.

I hope it works with the CVS-version.

To use this dropshadows in Gentoo, do it as follows:

Assuming, your variables in /etc/make.conf are like mine:
PORTDIR=/usr/portage
PORTDIR_OVERLAY=/usr/local/portage

1.) mkdir -pv /usr/local/portage/kde-base/

2.) cp -r /usr/portage/kde-base/kdebase /usr/local/portage/kde-base

3.) Open the file /usr/portage/kde-base/kdebase/kdebase-3.2.0.ebuild with an editor and change this lines:

src_unpack() {
kde_src_unpack
epatch ${FILESDIR}/${P}-kcontrol.patch
cd ${S} && aclocal
}

into this:

src_unpack() {
kde_src_unpack
epatch ${FILESDIR}/${P}-kcontrol.patch
cd ${S}/kwin
epatch ${FILESDIR}/${PN}.kwin-kwin_shadow-3.2.patch
cd ${S} && aclocal
}

4.) Copy the file kdebase.kwin-kwin_shadow-3.2.patch to /usr/local/portage/kde-base/kdebase/files.

5.) ebuild /usr/portage/kde-base/kdebase/kdebase-3.2.0.ebuild digest

6.) emerge /usr/portage/kde-base/kdebase/kdebase-3.2.0.ebuild

7.) Wait some minutes/hours (depends on your CPU ;) )

8.) Restart KDE

9.) Enjoy the nice dropshadows

Your BootSplash looks really nice, but isn't fully working. I don't know whether it is my configuration or a bug in your splash.
After a silent bootup, I only get a framebuffer console on tty1, on tty2 and upwards remains the silent picture.

Same problem here on Gentoo was fixed by
rm -rf ~/.ksmoothdock
But got some other problems....
it crashes after some seconds, the icons aren`t redrawn in background, so there stay some slushy leavings.

I think it may be hard to code this..
Look at the brushed metal, it isn`t a repeating tile, it`s rendered for the whole surface of this app... lighter in the middle... darker on the edges..
I think there would be a whole recode of the QT-surface engine necessary..
