Leopard_se & dark metacity

Metacity Themes by jcase008 10 comments

Hello jcase008,

I made some changes to your Aurora Leopard BSM Dark files for myself, and I figured I should send them back to you so you can decide if you want to use any of it or not. The following are the changes that I made:

I changed the nbase_color from #b3b3b3 to #ffffff so that OOo applications would display correctly.
I made new buttons for the metacity theme because there were jagged edges around all the buttons.
I also included my XCF files in case they are useful to you in any way.

The end effect does not look as mac-esque, but the images have a much smoother appearance.

You can download my changes here:
http://thelinuxbox.org/downloads/theme/AuroraLeopardBSMDarkwithSPmods.tar.gz

You can look at a screenshot of it here:
http://thelinuxbox.org/downloads/theme/screenshot.jpg

Thanks for creating such a cool theme. - Mar 17 2009

XFCE/XFWM4 Themes by SeanParsons 31 comments

Billy,

Thanks for the update, but your first link is broken, and your second link is for Gentle-LT which is nice, but I prefer Gentle original. I can't find your posting of just Gentle anywhere on Looky or on your blog. I would greatly appreciate it if you posted it somewhere for the many fans of your work.

Thanks

I found that the problem was being caused by Thunderbird. It was requesting menu icons on the titlebar, which I had not provided since I did not want a menu on the titlebar. I've added some generic fillers for the menu, but still left them inactive in my theme. This seems to alleviate the problem. - Aug 08 2006

I am still trying to figure out what is causing this. It seems that it is actually XFCE that is crashing, and not the xserver. I will let you know when I come up with a solution to this problem. Thanks for the heads up on this, as I don't use Thunderbird myself. - Aug 06 2006

Very cool, but you should probably throw a white background behind the screenshot. That way the preview image will render correctly. It is really a very beautiful piece of work, and that is the only reason I can come up with as to why it doesn't have a higher rating. - May 10 2006

Thanks for the generous offer, but I've found that Billy Cantrell (bvc) has already made a good gtk theme. All I did was remove his panel info, and it looks just about right, now. - May 10 2006

If you want an easy way to install them on GNOME then just hit alt + F2. A new dialog box will pop up titled 'Run Application'. Type fonts:/// and nautilus will open up with a fonts directory. You can just drop all the fonts you want to install in that directory (but they will only be available to your $USER account). - Apr 12 2006

It's just my own FF logo in front of a faded blue background with text that has a drop shadow behind it. It's meant to be simple, but I do think it counts as a design.

I'm sorry if my artwork is not as good as yours, as I do this as a hobby and work in a completed unrelated field (healthcare) instead.

Ordinarily I am glad to receive constructive criticism, but you were kind of rude. - Mar 08 2006

I've been using this wallpaper since the day you posted it. The rich color and the ability to find beauty in everything is what makes this piece so excellent.

If you post artwork anywhere other than Looky, please let me know.

btw, how can this not be rated higher??? This is one of the best wallpapers on here. - Mar 07 2006

I've added the ability to download each item individually, and I've listed the size of each file for this theme. I decided to keep it on my own web page because it now consists of 12 download options, which exceeds the number of download links that you can link to directly from looky. - Mar 03 2006

Your wallpaper is beautiful, it definately received a 'good' vote from me. Is there any chance of you psoting the SVG files for these (I'ld like to rebrand it for another distro). If you don't want to, that's ok; these wallpapers are still excellent. - Sep 30 2005
P9L-amp skin for BMP

XMMS Skins by SeanParsons 4 comments

Thanks for the compliment, and yeah, I know alot of GNOME users don't like the 'KDE Look' ;^)

The theme is actually a modification of Plastik and Ish.

The icons are a port of Everaldo's Clear Looks Icons. I debated about using the Krystaline icons (which I officially work on with others) but it is to incomplete for the GNOME desktop (everyone has concentrated on the KDE apps thus far). - Sep 29 2005
The above templates are done for letter sized pages (I live in the US). I realize that many of the visitors to this site would use a default page size of A4. To change this in OOo go to the menu bar Format-->Page, a new box will open up. Click on the tab titled Page, then you may change the format from Letter to A4. - Sep 19 2005
Thanks for the concern, but I have followed the guidelines for redistribution of these fonts. These specific fonts only require that the apropriate EULA be maintained with the set for redistribution. The EULA is contained within the tarball as a README. If you use any of the aforementioned systems for downloading the fonts, you will find that your distro also includes the EULA as well.

I have previously exchanged heated words with several Microsoft employees over a few issues and am very careful to avoid giving them reason to make any threats towards me.

Best Regards

You can either rescale the PNG image with GIMP or you can go back to the SVG and when you export it as a bitmap from a program like Inkscape, choose the desired size.

If you're not comfortable doing that for some reason, let me know what size you want and I'll email it to you. - Feb 09 2005

Wallpaper Other by oMasta0 2 comments

you may want to try and redraw your aqua penguin from scratch, as he has become very pixelated. Also, the solid black background is not nearly exciting enough to compliment PCLOS. If you do not have any ideas for the background, might I suggest making it transparent so that others may layer it on top of other wallpapers (or even their own customized background gradients). - Dec 08 2004

These are a great improvement over the current MEPIS icons. I'm going to install these in a moment.

One thing to keep in mind though with the really round icons is to avoid the marble trap.

As a general question to the others here at Looky, "Does anyone have a good idea as to how the round icons could be redone?"

Sorry for the long post, but one more thing; is there any chance of getting your *.xfc files for these icons sent to me? I would like to try and recreate them using Inkspace, and then I would gladly hand them back to you. You could judge whether or not my derivative SVG files are worthy of your originals. - Jun 13 2004

I don't think that news theme works with the latest versions of Super Karamba. What you're looking at is simply my own modification of the news theme that came with Karamba (not Super Karamba) 0.17. If I get some free time, maybe I can try and port them to Super Karamba. - Sep 14 2003

Currently I have an insufficient quantity of icons (only 30) to justify a fully installable set. Whenever I reach 50 icons I will scale everything, seperate them into types, and write an installation file.

If you want to use them right now, you can right click on an icon-->select properties-->and change the icon by selecting the image in the top left of the box that appears. You'll have to switch to other icons and move to wherever you unpacked the new icons at.

I hope this helps. - Jul 22 2003
