Chocula Global Theme - Plasma 6

Global Themes (Plasma 6) by sdonham 3 comments

Ha ha, well I'm a openSUSE Leap grandpa so we're kind of in the same boat. I have a newer thinkpad running Fedora and Plasma 6 because there's certain things I need that for, but the stable point release version of openSUSE is my daily driver.
So far so good with Plasma 6 version. The SDDM usually seems to be where global themes trip up and I'm happy to report that yours works just fine. :) - Sep 22 2024

Heh, thanks, but I'm more of an appreciator of art than an actual artist. I can hold my own modifying images in GIMP (and to a lesser degree, Inkscape), but I'm not terribly creative when it comes to original work. - Oct 19 2009

Here's a link to the FSF's page with a list of licenses and a link to the Artistic 2.0 license. Just look them over and whichever one you decide fits your needs is up to your own discretion. The most common ones seem to be one of the GPL or Creative Commons licenses, or Artistic 2.0.

Really like the textured "feel" and the shading in your rendition of the Ubuntu logo. Very nice. :)
You really should consider using a proper license for your work if you really don't want others to abuse it - just a suggestion. - Oct 18 2009

Oh, if you can render in SVG format, the size you have it at should be fine for the guys at the print shop I use, because I would think it should scale without losing too much resolution. But would 2560x1600 be too large? I think that's about as high as it goes with wallpaper resolutions before it starts getting ridiculously huge, isn't it? - Sep 14 2009

Well, in a lot of set's it seems to be green, but that is taken by Calc in this set. It doesn't real look like there's another color available (I was gonna say purple, but that's taken by Web, which I didn't think anyone used either, lol) so maybe yellow? Doesn't really matter that much, just as long as the icon style matches the others. Thank you!! - Sep 14 2009

You found one, LOL. I use Math fairly frequently. That, Calc and Impress are the apps I use most often. You never who's going to download your work. ;)

No, I noticed after installing that I went into the Office tab and Math/Formula still had the old icon, and that got me poking through the folder looking for it. Thanks! - Sep 14 2009

Mac OS 9 Platinum gtk theme

GTK2 Themes by jesusmora 18 comments

Pretty decent knockoff, but I hated the Platinum theme even when I was actually using Macs way back when. I thought it was ugly then and spent a lot of time on sites like ResExcellence changing it, so I sure as heck wouldn't want to look at it now, LOL. :P - Sep 11 2009

GTK2 Themes by sparky2012 56 comments

Nice little refinements, nice work as always. I've been using this as my default since you released v1.4, and will probably continue to do so into 9.10. Guess you could consider me a Warmth fanboy (but not in a Stephen King "Misery" kind of way, so no need to worry - yet, lol). I've found that the Erectus (if you want little orange to break things up) and Erectus Brown icon sets work really, really well with this theme. They really compliment each other.

Thanks again! :)

Same here. I like the concept (funny) but dislike the color (white). However, I'm not going to vote it down based on something that trivial (but I'm not going to vote it up either - just please provides some color variations). ;) - Sep 02 2009

This looks (at least to me) like an improvement to the DMZ Black theme, with a some hints and a little color here and there that make a little more attractive. I have a few themes that this cursor set will work very well with. Thank you. - Sep 02 2009

I like orange (and brown as well, like the good Ubuntu fanboy I am) and the artwork of this theme is superb, but holy cow is theme ever LOUD! I was using it on my computer just now and my wife walked in, took one look at it and said "Oh my god!", LOL. I'm running it with a dust colored icon set and it evens it out a bit. - Aug 23 2009

GDM Themes by zimbakin 6 comments

Glad to hear it! I'm actually working on modifying some of the more popular themes so they'll work with Netbook Remix, but I'm not so motivated to do it that much anymore now that they are completely changing the interface in Ubuntu 9.10 (kinda disappointing, but the new interface is supposed to be WAY faster). But I'll probably keep at it. My Eee PC 1000HA is probably the best purchase I've ever made. :) - Aug 13 2009

Redux

GTK2 Themes by dashua 18 comments

Awesome. I do a good deal of journaling and spend the majority of my time on my Eee PC because I move around a great deal throught the day and having a UNR version will give me a great chance to really put the usability of this theme through it's paces, because I've noticed at the moment that the tabs are a completely different color than the metacity (black) and don't integrate well into the theme, and worst of all don't display close buttons on the tabs (of course that could be the fault of the Humanity icon theme as well).

Thanks again!! - Jul 28 2009

Oh, and I only have one more small request. Could you please also include a Netbook Remix version of this theme when it goes final? I use a netbook a good deal of the time and would love to have better integration with UNR.

Thanks! - Jul 28 2009
Redux

Really started to show the signs of a well designed, finished theme. I am one of the commenters from the wiki (still working on generating that palette between doctors appointments), and not really intending to take any kind of credit here, but it looks as though some of my partially implemented suggestions are really shaping this up to be a great theme. I am also a fan of the "Warmth" theme and Redux is beginning to show some of the elements that made me fall in love with that theme as well. Keep up the great work! - Jul 28 2009

You did a very nice job of making this a workable theme for netbooks. I have been playing with it and think I am very close to having a usable version for Maximus on UNR. I just have to keep tweaking the shade of the tabs to get them to blend seamlessly with the menubar, but I think I am very, very close. ;) - Jul 10 2009

No, actually, like I said, it is just a small thing and one that I'll just learn to adapt to. Thanks again for your great work. It's better to have a UNR version with a small annoyance than no UNR version at all! :) - Jul 06 2009

GTK2 Themes by sparky2012 56 comments

There's something very minor that's bothering me about the UNR version of this theme, but it bothers me nonetheless. It's the difference in text colors between the mazimized title bar and the menu bar. Here's a link to a photo that shows what I'm talking about:

http://tinyurl.com/qk64x6

Usually I'm able to correct these things myself, but I've spent a few hours going through the gtkrc and apanel.rc files and just can't seem to get it worked out.

Thanks! - Jul 05 2009

Thinks seem to be copacetic now. It's all cool. It's only a theme theme, after all (even if it si an AWESOME one). Running this with the latest "Breathe" icon set I got from bazaar. They ave changed a LOT of items from blue to orange, and man does it look freaking sweet - like it was made for this theme. You should give it a look. - Jul 05 2009
