Dragon Player

Video Players by eean 277 comments

a 3-in-1 dvd is a DVD which has Three movies. Like my matrix 3-in-1 has:

1. The Matrix
2. Matrix reloaded
3. Matrix Revolutions

Likwise there are other 3 in 1 dvds for other movies like:

1. Jurassic part 1,2,3
2. kill bill
etc.

in DVD I need to use "Next" and "Back" to move between movies. I have matrix 3-in-1 dvd. I can't go to previous and or next movie using codeine. There is no Next and Last buttons and even in the toolbar it's not present.

Video Players by eean 277 comments

1. I have xine-lib-1.0.1, and xine-ui-0.99.3,
2. xine can play vcd, but codeine can't play vcd.
3. it is showing can't find plugin error message.
4. I have even added '/dev/cdrom' into codeine's vcd option.
5. link is there for /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdd. (no link problem)
6. codeine can play DVD (matrix movie ;) (but have to do first "ln -sf /dev/hdd /dev/dvd")

could you please tell me what I am doing wrong with the VCD aspect? Could you play VCD?

which version of xine do u use with codeine?

I love codeine and want it to be my Video player (all video format). VCD is on such important thing in India like DVD there ;) - Jul 21 2005

I'm not discouraging you, nor I'm telling that this is bad.

I like your work!!!

but compiling is a time consuming process and the package which gets compiled can't be uploaded to kde-look because of the huge size.

That's why i'm asking a module like small applet thing which could be uploaded to kde-look.org.

Keep up the good work. Good Luck!!! - Jul 20 2005

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by lxnay 29 comments

You know compiling the whole KDEBASE package takes many hours which is a discouragement for a user. And most distro's will not consider this module to be part of kde.

kbfx is not dead, Siraj Razique is having exams these days.

It is good but the compilation thing will not make it popular and Aaron J. Seigo will not allow anything which he seems not ok into kicker, cause he is cleaning up the kicker code. - Jul 20 2005

And if you feel like helping GNOME guys a Gaim plugin will do the justice.

SimpleKDE

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by nunogomez 27 comments

and it is not against KDE but for good for KDE in general.

I guess he is making simpleKDE by removing extra code from KDE's huge packages and making it small and simple.

I really like your approach.

Simple KDE menu should have ONLY

1. ONE Media Player
2. ONNE Audio Player
3. ONE Image Viewer
4. ONE Terminal application
5. ONE Text editor

no more redundant software which does nothing but keep KDE look ugly and bloated and big (package size).

I really feel bad for KDE to have too many partially-usable applications. like kaboodle, noatun, kplayer, kaffeine. they are just partial not complete.

I want a media player which can play audio, video, streaming, embedded media flawlessly, a Good MPlayer frontend would be good. But there are none. Perhaps KDE 4 will solve this mess of unnecessary applications. - Jul 18 2005

The font is perfect here in slackware where I have "BYTECODE_COMPILER" enabled in freetype-2.1.7 and freetype-2.1.10.

You can see that exactly in the screenshot.

Please try compiling freetype with bytecode interpreter enabled. check freetype documentation. just remove /* and */ before and after "#define BYTE_CODE_INTERPRETER" in freetype-2.1.7/include/options/ftoptions.h - Jun 30 2005

image6 -> 30%
image7 -> 35%
image8 -> 40%

Static IP configurator

Network by tomasm 6 comments

Yes its useful. But please add support to store the settings.

slackware (bsd like) stores ip address and gateway information in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf file and dns in /etc/resolv.conf

redhat (system v like) stores in /etc/sysconfig/network.

or you can also have it running in the startup script. so that you don't need to depend on the default configuration files.

just adding 'ifconfig eth0 subnet' etc. in /etc/rc.d/rc.local that would make life easy for u and us :) - Jun 23 2005

Crystal Clear

Full Icon Themes by everaldo 197 comments

I love your icons. No doubt you are fine artist :)

The only things I don't like in the icons are:

1. Crossed (slanted) folders: which makes them look unstable in the window. It feels like they are about to fall down from the window.

2. Guided icons: in toolbars most icons are *same* colored, which makes very difficult for person standing behind to guide a person using KDE.

Though, now with "Crystal Clear", it is easy to say "press the Yellow icon on the toolbar to reload", or press the "red button to stop", or "press the first green button to go back".

With Crystal Clear, the folders look stable and icons easily identified. I am happy with your artwork. thank you. - Jun 22 2005

ALI - KMenu - Suggestion

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by zammi 9 comments

I really want KMENU to be like this! It is useful and attractive.

You KDE (windows hating) users have problem of hating everything which looks good and distantly familiar to windows you people get so bitter!

It's windows like? No way! it is more attractive and has much more functionality of finding application.

Grow up guys, If you really hate windows you have to stop using KDE! why? see this list:

1. Window decoration
2. window button placement (minimize, maximize, close)
3. panel
4. shortcuts keys (ctrl+c, ctrl+v, ctrl+n)
5. menu (menu looks exactly like windows)
6. show desktop button
7. quick launch
8. system tray
9. toolbars
10. folder icons
11. kolourpaint (exactly like mspaint)
12. ....and the list you can increase by yourself.

Keep hating windows and stop using KDE, because KDE is more like Windows!!! And you know that! - Jun 17 2005

Linux and KDE button for KBFX

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by maarizwan 16 comments

Thanks for your kind words! The problem I see with your Linux setup is that it may be missing the gnu's gcc and g++ programs required to compile anything!

if you use an RPM based distro check out with this command:

rpm -qa|grep gcc
rpm -qa|grep g++

if you don't get any result that means you are not having gcc and g++ installed. You need to install the GCC and G++ RPMS (devel ones too) to get anything compiled on your system!

if you don't see anything after adding the applet, please copy "cp ~/kbfx/src/xp.png $KDEDIR/share/icons/default.kde/22x22/actions"s" or copy the xp.png to ~/.kde/share/icons/default.kde/22x22/actions

2. restart KDE

4. Alternatively you can edit ~/.kbfx/config file where you can set the default theme!
