There are many gtk-eninges out like murrine, aurora, nodoka, ...
Murrine is fast and quite good-looking. Murrine-Themes are f.example: Wasp, the Gtk-Themes form Shiki-Colors and I think the orig. Human-Theme ... Gotham is special, because it uses the newest murrine-engine (development). I can't help u really, because I am a quite amateur in that stuffs. But take the sources and study it a little bit... A mix of murrine and pixpuf is possible and give u the power to make some nice themes... ;-) - Jan 19 2010

Like it. But my first test was Kmail. The folder-rubric is a little bit buggy with white text on the white background. I mean the normal coulor-scheme - with Bespin I don't know. I haven't it installed. ;-) - Sep 07 2009
Daisy

Plasma 4 Extensions by Lechio 573 comments

It's the first time I installed your Daisy. Okay, I have KDE 4.3.1 running now, but it seems to work well with it. It's a great Dock with interesting ideas. Unfortunately I am noticing some Bugs. For example the "hide automatecally" is always behind the windows. But it works all in all and this Dock is a nice feature what many peoples wants to have in their KDE-Desktop.

Now my ask is:
Updates and bugfixes are planed? I noticed that no updates had come since some time...

Thank you for your work. :) - Sep 06 2009
Humanoid

Full Icon Themes by schollidesign 17 comments

Thank you.
Yes I sharped the icons in small sizes to their maximum. But some of them was yet sharp as default. ;)
I like sharp and recognizable icons more than smooth and overloaded.

Gnome with Gnome3 is doing a refreshing in their default-Set and KDE with 4.x is still completing and improving. In the end both Desktop-Managers will have a sufficient good Set as default so that the most of peoples wouldn't search no more better icon-Sets developed by a 3thrd person for their satisfactions. Mhh I hope so, because:

Create a whole icon-Set is a lot of work. With time and missing [following] support makes that hard developed Set more and more incomplete etc.
A good made default-Set let peoples happy and it's always up-to-date and supported ... ;)

Thanks for your opinion. Always nice to hear others opinons.
But honestly...
Gnome-icons are the Base-icons on Gnome. It's old-school, but it's what only fits well on a Gnome-System. I explain you:
Gnome uses many icons in 16px, 22px and 24px. Only this style make you sure that you can recognize and see well what you get presented in those small sizes. The delevopers of applications makes their icons in the same style of the given base. It means. If your Hires-modern-Icon-Set don't support this application you will see a Gnome-style or similar kind of icon between the rest. The consistence will suffer something or a lot. If you want a whole consistence look on your Gnome-System, you should accept the old-school-style and use Sets like Humanoid, Gnome-Colors, Erectus, ... or simply the original Gnome-icon-Set. ;)

Gnome3 will receive a fresh-up in their Icon-Set. All will be slightly more modern and beautiful, but with the same old-school-base as always. :) - Aug 27 2009

The font I am using calls GE Inspira. I don't know if it works well with the emerald-theme if you haven't it installed. If not you can choose another one u like in the emerald-theme-manager. GE Inspira is a non-free font, so I can't include it in the package. If you want this font you must look by yourself for it. Sorry - Aug 18 2009

I know what you mean. I understood it yet in the lasts posts we had if you talked about. But Humanoid is finished since some time as "base". After the Folder-Change now I will care it for be so "up-to-date" (synchrony to yours and the original Gnome-Base) as possible and make only minor improvements. Bigger things aren't needed now.

Maybe I will change my direction if Gnome 3 will comes out ... but in the meanwhile I will enjoy the vacations and the summertime. :)

I understand your statement, but I think a real Artwork-Icon-Set haves the possibility to stay near to the look from the original ones. Other Icons-Sets like those which are collecting their Icons from the www replaces the applications-Icons with one what *can* fit mostly with the sense of those applications. But honestly, this is something what bugs me a lot. The original Evolution-Icon is the envelope with the clock, Rhytmbox the white box, Inkscape the mountain etc. etc. light improvements but staying near to the original is the choice from my part. :)

PD: The box fits perfectly with darker Themes, yes. But with bright ones it doesn't looks so ugly, too ... ;)

I don't think that the idea with the inherits is very well. I don't know, but I think you have to maintain so much things yet that every extra package is a new timekiller for you. Let the artists pick things what they needs by themselves. ;)

I thought the next update will be the version 2.0.
So here I will have all pending things finally inside/finished and I will do a major go-through all the icons what the set contains. Maybe I can make some clean-ups and some icons better or more consistent. Here is waiting already some work on me ... ;)
But we could not forget that it's summertime and the maintainer of Gnome-Colors is very active in the last time. :D
This I say because apart of my own work I want have it so much up-to-date as possible. :)

Can you include more widgets in your theme? At moment I need the indicator-applet and user-switch-applet.

I noticed that many icons haves errors in the user-legitimation and some even are auto-executable. Please do before every new release this:

Code:

It's important for the deb-building, too. Less errors on lidian. ;)

@ perfectska04:
I made for a short while a test with the hires-svg-icons from Breathe. Svg opened with Inkscape ... even rendered to png shows always the correct and true icon-aspect. In realy use I noticed missing blured-shadows or lines and/or moved layers (up/down), slightly moved objects, missing objects. I think that this is a bug in libsvg ... but I am not really sure.

No. I don't think it's a good idea. Gnome-Colors haves great emblems. Okay sorry :) ... it's because I don't like the style from original Human and what Erectus haves. A small circle with a exact mini-icon-message inside plus EyeCandy is nearly impossible. But yes, Erectus made it better than the original Human one, I think ... ;) - May 30 2009

jonian. I don't know you saw the source-files from Breathe? 128 is for scalable. 48-32-22-16 for rendered png's. The goal is to make the icons from 48-16 so good that no more handwork are needed. In my opinion it's going quite well and presentable. But for being perfect a slight handwork over them will be a *must*. ;)

Another problem is the libsvg-bug with scalable hires-icons and I like to repeat it always, because I want it's get finally fixed. :D Mhh, maybe I must do a bug-report!?

PD: I made a own new "Iconset" in Gnome-style and what's preserves my own gusts. I don't have the intention to make it very puplic - it's not necessary. But if you want try "Humanoid" on DA. ;)

:) mhhh, I know what he means really...

He is meaning the svg-bug with blured shadows and some moved or missing objects in the hyper-real svg-icons (present in KDE and Gnome -- libsvg) plus the slight handcraft-work in the small sizes. But this, I am sure, will find with time his right way and final decisions ... ;) - May 30 2009
