SE ThemeKreator

Good idea! But will you extend phone support to older phones as T610??

Anyway, I think that you should change a little the program name...as it is now it could seem a theme creator for KDE. Don't know, maybe "SE Theme Kreator" or something like this... - Dec 23 2004

Ehi man, this rocks!! I definitely love the UI, this is what a phone browser should look like! For example I love the functionalities of KMobileTools but I really don-t like its UI. So, for features, give a look to it!

Moreover, 2 questions:
does it support bluetooth connection?
is it based on Gammu as the name suggest?

ah, a third one...does it support SonyEricsson phones?

I think I'll subscribe the ML and stay in touch with the development - Dec 10 2004

Too much inspirated? :) Baghira is clearly a *clone*, so it's clearly obvious it could never and never be set as KDE default, neither enter kdegraphics nor kdelibs. (the same has to be applied to Luna clones or other clones). KDE-look is the only right place where they could stay. - Dec 08 2004

System Tools (NOT OS or ROMS) by karye 120 comments

How does Guitoo handle the new /etc/portage files operation. I think that a GUI part for these files would be a GREAT improvment, cause as now I have to manually add every time lines to those files (well, I did a very simple script to automatize a bit it, but a GUI in that sense would greatly help) - Nov 23 2004

Always remember, pal, that do not have the right to say people how to spend their time, and what apps should they code.
If you don't like it, simply do not use it, and if you really need some other kind of app, study a programming language and do it yourself. This is the F/OSS way, you have to learn it. - Nov 23 2004
Search bar improvement

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by oliverthered 16 comments

If a user have to be trained, it's not for definition "intuitive". The current location bar is "intuitive" cause is the defacto standard for every platform and browser, so changing it will be a difference.

Secondary, what I meant before was: if I write in the location (search) bar, for example "/usr/includ/myfile.h" because I want to search Google for this particular file cause I'm having trouble with it, putting it into the location bar will pop-up it into my preferred editor. What about this case?
Yes, for sure, I can open www.google.com or click a button to switch to a forced search mode, but this would be a longer operation.

I don't see why you hate so the google bar. It ws a great feature added in KDE 3.3, why remove it? - Nov 17 2004
Search bar improvement

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by oliverthered 16 comments

..what about the search bar called "Location". I think this is an overload that we do not need, cause

1) it's not intuitive
2) it adds complexity. For example, if I want to search google for a complete path + file name (for example looking for a problem involving this file), if I put it in the location bar it will hopefully do the right mime-type associated action. With your patch/idea? - Nov 17 2004
Konqueror search/filter field idea

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by WedDa 30 comments

But the fact you are not considering is that the LOCATION bar is not the first place where you would think you can do google searches! Maybe you do, but the average user do not!
Sure, after someone tell him how to do it he would know about it, but IMO in too many cases will remain another hidden feature - Nov 16 2004

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by meneerdik 30 comments

Well, let's talk about truly KDE beginners, I mean, truly *nix beginners. They don't have a clue of what exactly home is for. So a generical starting location could be easily this new locations:/, with another "My files" placed by default on the desktop (and/or in the kicker) - Nov 14 2004

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by meneerdik 30 comments

Well, but there's no other site with such an exposure. KDE-apps is, as now, the best way to get opinions by real KDE users, not only by KDE power-users that read KDE wikis or follow some KDE-devel mailing list or regulary look at bugs.kde.org.
So, until things changed, it works this way. And anyway all these kinds of apps fall down "KDE improvement", which is a different catagory from Quanta one, even if Quanta IS a KDE improvement :) - Nov 14 2004
Konqueror search/filter field idea

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by WedDa 30 comments

It's useless? Me and tons of other people (also on the Firefox side) don't think the same.

Use the location bar to force on a web searcher in case of mispelled URL a la Internet Explorer? Why?
Is this intuitive? No.
The location bar is used to enter locations, and not to put down sentences that have to be searched. - Nov 14 2004

I don't think kio_locate is the right decision in this case. It should be only a filter on the CURRENT view, and not a search in the locate DB (which, I remind you, it has to be updated from time to time) - Nov 14 2004

Good idea for all of us that do not use a distribution that comes with all that automated tools by its own (as MDK, Suse etc). I really like the idea of having the menu bar in the title, and I think that it could be a nice feature for KWin in KDE4!
But I don't understand the home icon..it's meant to be in every window? Or maybe only in the Konqueror FM windows? In the second case, it would be cool. In the other case, I think it doesn't have sense. - Aug 02 2004

Taskbased Desktop

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by zammi 25 comments

After a bad first time impression, I changed my mind and I definitely think that this idea rocks!!
Let think: we have this giant place (desktop) almost unused and used only to put a nice wallpaper on it. Instead we can use it to replace (well, integrate) the current k-menu behaviour.
One can say: it's not immediate. But let think about it...you have to click on k-menu to have all sub menus available. Here you can click on the "show desktop" button or it may be implemented a "border area" where if you move the mouse in, then desktop is showed.

IMO it's a great idea!! - Jun 10 2004

We should try to innovate, not only to mimic!

Kim (Kde Image Menu)

Graphic Apps by cbouveyron 198 comments

1) when installed, everytime I rightclick an image it tells me about "RotCustomFlip" as non valid menu action. Deleting the "RotCustomFlip" occurence in the service file, it works
2) when custom resizing an image, if I click "Cancel" I get an error dialog about a missing file, while effective resizing works quite well.

(this is not a bug)
3) how can I send you italian translation? simply diff the files? (i'm going to add labels for "it" in the service files)

Thanks! - Apr 22 2004
QStringTemp for Qt 2.2.3

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by fprog26 14 comments

No, you haven't, you can send your mail even without being subscribed, and you can send your patch there to be examined and discussed by all other KDE developers. This (kde-apps.org) is definitely a place for end-users who wants to find the most suitable KDE application for their needs, not a place for developer to discuss about improvements in the rough code.

Ok, talking about UI improvements is a totally different thing, but in your case there's no UI at all. UI is used by user :) directly, code is managed by developers directly.

Just my 2 cents - Apr 22 2004
